Good morning.
We’re in Taiping, Malaysia, filming a microchip being inserted into an Asian arowana so this endangered fish can be tracked on its flight to Singapore. How did we get here?
A few months earlier, we’d stumbled upon a remarkable image of a Boeing 747 on the tarmac, with a team loading goods through its open nose. We soon discovered that Singapore is one of the top 10 global air cargo hubs. What if we could get access to this fascinating world hidden from view?

Making Premium Rush: Inside Air Cargo Singapore brought us behind the scenes at Changi Airport’s airfreight centre, and on the journey of various products – from fish to flowers, to horses – as they make their way into and out of Singapore.
We found out that like you and me, horses need a passport to travel overseas. And that only horses have their own flight attendants – flying grooms are one of the few people allowed on freighter flights, to care for the horses and ensure they are as stress-free as possible.
But what excited us the most was the passion and dedication of the unseen heroes who make these movements possible. From the operations manager keeping a close eye on parcels moving through the cargo hub; to the cheese enthusiast who sources goods from remote farms in Europe.
It’s a journey that takes us across continents and into the heart of the airport, and we hope viewers take away something new about the products we otherwise take for granted.
