Georgia Brown, head of European Originals for Amazon Studios, has stepped down from her role and is departing the company, an Amazon spokesperson has confirmed to Realscreen.
Brown (pictured) took on the role in 2017, making her the first Amazon Studios hire outside of Los Angeles. In her five years with the company, she created seven local commissioning and production hubs in Europe and produced unscripted, scripted and DTS movies. These titles include some of Prime Video’s most popular projects, such as All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur and several regional versions of the format LOL: Last One Laughing.
Prior to joining Amazon Studios, Brown had worked in executive roles for FremantleMedia, Shine International and the BBC. The announcement of her departure comes just a week after she headed the Amazon Studios panel presentation at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
A search for Brown’s replacement is currently ongoing. Senior territory executives in Europe will report to head of international James Farrell until a replacement is found. The studio said in an internal memo to staff that it has worked closely with Brown for some time to transition her workload before she leaves the company.
