WE'RE coming up to new year, which means many shops and restaurants will be closing doors once more.
It also means stores will have different opening times than normal.
New Year is no different and there's a Bank Holiday to give people a break at the start of 2023 too.
Many people will have the day off on January 2.
That's because New Year's Day falls on a Sunday this year – and that means the belated Bank Holiday falls the day after on Monday.
Here's what we know stores including supermarkets have planned for New Year's Day and the Bank Holiday.
After closing on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, Aldi will be closed on New Year's Day.
But the majority of stores will be open from 8am until 8pm between Christmas and New Year, and until 6pm on New Year's Eve.
Stores will also be open until 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday, January 2, 2023.
Customers are urged to check their nearest store to double-check its opening hours.
On New Year's Day, the majority of stores will be closed but some will be open from 10am to 5pm.
That's after closing on Christmas Day to give staff time off.
Before closing for New Year's Day, most locations are opening from December 27 to December 30 from 8am to 8pm.
They'll then be closing a little earlier at 6pm on New Year's Eve.
Check your local store's opening hours for this period using the handy tool on the Iceland website.
All Waitrose stores are closed on New Year's Day, with the exception of a few – so check what your local one is doing.
But the posh supermarket said a few sites at petrol stations may still be open – make sure to check online.
However, normal trading normal hours will resume between December 27 and New Year.
This will vary from shop to shop, so make sure you check the Waitrose website for the latest on your local branch.
After closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the Bank Holiday, Morrisons will be open from 10am to 4pm on New Year's Day.
That'll be followed by 7am to 8pm on January 2.
The usual opening hours for your nearest store will then resume until New Year's Eve.
Before they shut, December 31 shops will be open from 7am to 7pm.
Most Sainsbury's supermarkets will be open from 10am until 4pm on January 1, after being shut on Christmas Day.
Convenience stores will be trading between 9am and 9pm on New Year's Day too.
Before that, on December 27, most will have been open from 8am to 8pm, but opening hours will vary by store, so it is best to check the store locator on the website.
On December 28, 29 and 30, most stores will have been trading for their normal hours.
On New Year’s Eve, the majority of Sainsbury's shops will have opened from 7am to 7pm and convenience stores will be closing at 9pm.
Opening hours can vary though, so Sainsbury's advises customers to check the website for the latest details for their area.
For the third year in a row, Poundland will close all stores on New Year’s Day.
The move is intended to give colleagues a well-deserved break.
Customers can check their local store opening times over the Christmas period on the Poundland website.
Co-op stores will be open between 8am and 8pm on New Year's Day, the same as they were for Boxing Day.
Before shutting on January 1, stores will have closed at 9pm on New Year's Eve.
For all other dates, stores will be open as per usual.
There will be variations on store opening hours though, so it's best to check your local.
After shutting for Christmas Day, and opening until 6pm Boxing Day, usual opening hours will take place on New Year's Day.
Before January 1, Asda opened from 8am until 8pm on December 7 and then normal hours 28 and 29.
The following opening times apply to most Asda stores over the Christmas and New Year period.
Times may vary at some stores, you can check individual store opening times by using the Asda store locator.
Stores will shut on New Year's Day.
Outlined below are Lidl's broad opening hours for the rest of the festive season.
But, these times may vary by location, so the supermarket is encouraging customers to look at its store finder to double-check.
From December 27 to 30, most Lidl shops will have opened from 8am to 10pm.
On New Year's Eve they'll have closed a bit earlier at 7pm.
Then on January 2 shops will be open at 8am until 8pm.
On New Year’s Day big stores will be open for their usual Sunday trading hours of 10am to 6pm and Express stores 8am to 8pm.
While, the majority of Express stores will be open from 8am to 10pm, some larger Express stores may have shorter trading hours.
On New Year’s Eve, Tesco Extras and superstores close at 6pm, with some variations in the London area.
Most Express stores close at 10pm, with some bigger Express stores closing at 6pm.
Tesco opening hours over the festive period vary from store to store and by location, so it is advising customers to find their local store opening times on its website.
This is also the best place to check for petrol filling station opening times, as these can vary from the main store opening hours.
Over Christmas, Next stores usually extend trading times similar to those they have traded in December.
Opening and closing times for each shop are available on its website so make sure you check your local for details.
Argos shops closed on Christmas day and reopened on Boxing Day.
Standalone Argos stores opened between 9am and 5.30pm.
Argos stores within Sainsbury’s will match the opening hours of the supermarkets they are located in.
Opening hours can vary though, so Argos advises customers to check the store locator for the latest details in their area.
All B&M stores closed on Christmas Day and will also shut New Year's Day.
The majority of shops will be opened from 8am to 6pm on Boxing Day.
Some shops will open between 8am and 9pm for the rest of the following week, but some will close earlier at 6pm.
On New Year's Eve the majority of shops shut at 6pm.
The opening hours of each shop differ by location so make sure to check online using the locator tool on its website.
