As “festival season” – rolls around, it’s only necessary to keep track of the latest happenings in town. For those who love delish mooncakes and whimsical lantern decor, you know it: Mid-Autumn Festival has arrived with pretty light-ups and seasonal delicacies.
This year, physical celebrations are back in full force. Other than sampling mooncakes at shopping mall food fairs, here are some massive displays, marketplaces, and carnival games to visit with the family. Entries are F.O.C!

You know, we never really pegged Mid-Autumn Festival as a cutesy event but you have to admit that going the adorable route works wonders for the Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Moon, Sun, and several planets now take over the outdoor lawn of the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall and we simply can’t get enough of how squishy they look. While you’re there, join in on the heritage tours, riddle guessing, and storytelling sessions – they’re bound to thrill the little ones.

Whether you love Jewel Changi’s Rain Vortex or its plethora of food options, visit the glitzy mall this Mid-Autumn Festival to see it flushed with colourful decor. At the basement floor of the Shiseido Valley, a mega-sized bunny sits by the vortex, alongside an ancient China-inspired street filled with themed carnival games.

Kids can fill rice buckets, toss herb prescriptions, and play chess here. More light-ups can be found in the ticketed Canopy Park, which will be illuminated with a lantern lane and floating lotus lamps.

Not just a pretty hangout spot during the day, Lakeside Gardens transforms into a whimsical lantern-filled landscape come nightfall.

Lights by the Lake makes a return this year with glowing installations themed after the 4 seasons. Continue along your romantic nighttime stroll through the park to find miniature lanterns inspired by countries from all over the world, including Germany and Italy.
Every week till 11th September 2022, there are also performances by local artists with live music to fill the night.

The Jade Rabbit is an iconic symbol of the Mid-Autumn Festival, yet trying to find #representation of them every year is much like trying to find a rare Pokemon. Our hot take: the bunnies need more love. If you have a soft spot for the fuzzy hoppers, find a bunny-themed series of installations at Chinatown Point.
The ethereal-white pop-up features a 3m-tall Celestial bunny you can pop through, and chiming wishing bells to ring for an extra dose of luck. May we all hit our KPIs!
Within the mall, also find a festive fair to grab fancy mooncakes from hotels like The St. Regis Singapore for your in-laws.

Following the return of pasar malams is the re-emergence of the festival food fairs; a huge yay in our books. You won’t go hungry at Gardens by the Bay with an outdoor marketplace featuring more than 10 vendors dishing out Asian food like skewers and vadai.

Groups can enjoy dining at the pop-up seating area. Else, have your snacks to go. You can chew on your choice eats as you wander around, exploring the cultural performances and lantern displays.
Spot a phoenix swirling up one of the Supertrees, animal-themed lanterns contributed by the Korea Tourism Organisation, and dazzling floral arches that scream “photo op!”.

No matter if you’re a kid or adult, it’s hard not to go “aww” over the adorable Disney Tsum Tsum characters. Find Tigger, Dory, and Goofy lined up among 100 lanterns in Jurong Point’s Tsum Tsum Tunnel. You can’t miss this right outside Jurong East MRT, flanked by giant Pooh lanterns and other photo backdrops.

Even your ah gong ah ma would tell you that Chinatown is one of the best places to catch stunning lantern displays when the Mooncake Festival rolls around.
While festivities were dialled down over the last few years, 2022’s bounces back with a 10m-tall snow skin mooncake diorama and jade rabbit lanterns. These will be scattered across Chinatown’s roads, including Upper Cross Street – a newly-added venue this year.

Those feeling peckish from all the walking can fill their tummies at the food bazaar on Smith Street with Taiwanese street snacks and vendors selling sugarcane juice. Other activities include lantern paintings and stage shows to keep the celebrations peaking all night long.
