State media shows Amnok-class warship for first time, underlining low priority of conventional navy vessels

One of the North Korean navy’s newest warships made its first appearance in state media this week, raising questions about the status of naval developments and their importance to the country’s leadership relative to new missile systems.
The ship shown on state television appeared to be an Amnok-class corvette (light frigate), a type of vessel that first entered service in 2017, North Korea military experts Tarao Goo and Joost Oliemans of the Oryx military blog told NK Pro.
