British Homes Lost More Than £6,000 in Value Over Past 4 Weeks
What a difference a month can make. According to property portal Rightmove, the average home value across Britain fell by more than £6,000 (US$7,344) over the last four-week period. The drop—a 1.7% fall in value—brought the average asking price for a property in the nation to £362,143. The tumble represents the biggest fall for asking prices in the month of November—a time when such prices usually dip—in five years, with Rightmove noting that sellers seem to be moderating asks to be more in line with the reality of the market. Europeans Open to the Idea of Co-Ownership
Europeans are ready to take the roommate situation to the next level. According to a survey by Re/Max Europe, a majority of Europeans—65%—say they would consider co-owning a property with an unrelated group of people, be they friends, colleagues or even strangers. Of those who said they were open to the idea of co-ownership, 24.8% said the cost-sharing benefits were the biggest appeal, while a nearly identical number (24.5%) said it would be an ideal way to purchase a second home. Luxury Sales in Australia’s Gold Coast Boomed in the Third Quarter—and Buyers Are Paying Cash
It was a good quarter for luxury apartment sales in Australia’s Gold Coast. The high-end segment saw a 135% increase in sales in the third quarter over the previous quarter, with 470 units sold. How did buyers snag these pricey properties given the state of interest rates? Simple—they paid in cash. Analysis by marketing firm Total Property Group found that 80% of recent Gold Coast buyers were paying entirely in cash, with prices for properties ranging from between A$1 million (US$636,000) and A$10 million.
