The Place I took the opportunity to check out Opus Bar & Grill Sunday Brunch buffet during my recent stay at Voco Orchard Singapore. I have previously dined here for dinner, but it was my first time having its Sunday Brunch buffet. It is a completely different set up from breakfast or dinner, as the buffet line is pretty extensive and extends to the back section of the restaurant which is not visible from the restaurant’s entrance.
Ambience wise, parts of the restaurant can be quite dim. I prefer to dine in brighter setting, so the best seats in my opinion are those beside the window. Note that there are only three tables beside the window.
The Food The Sunday Brunch buffet takes place from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, and some of the highlights include over 9 types of seafood, a variety of European cheeses and cold cuts, and dishes from Japan, France and Italy, along with local favourites.
Priced at S$178++ per person with a free-flow of Champagne Laurent Perrier Brut, wines, beers and a self-service Mojito bar. Otherwise, non-alcoholic options are available from S$98++ per adult and S$59++ per child.
Buffets are only worth it if you are a seafood person in my opinion. At Opus, you get the usual freshly shucked Fine de Claire and New Zealand oysters, Alaskan king crab legs, Boston lobster and Tiger prawns, amongst others like Canadian black mussels and Japanese clams.
The other highlight for me is the live grill section, where you can watch the chef prepare the dishes over huge flames through the glass panels.
Expect the likes of Slow-roasted Australian prime ribs, Grilled hanger steak and Gourmet wagyu beef sausages. I find the grilled meats section here to be the most enjoyable for me.
Other culinary sections include French dishes like Foie Gras, Escargot, Beef cheek bourguignon and Coq au vin; Italian dishes include the likes of Squid ink risotto, Four cheese pizza and Wagyu scotch egg.
There are also Asian food selections, which I suggest to skip since the selections are quite ordinary. That said, you can expect dishes like Yang Zhou fried rice, Wok-fried chilli crab and Prawn paste chicken.
Japanese lovers can opt for the spread of various types of sashimi and sushi.
The cheese spread section is at the back of the restaurant and you get a wide variety of European cheeses.
And if you only have space for one dessert, got for the American or Blueberry cheesecake from D9 Cakery.
Rants I find the lighting of the restaurant (especially the food sections) to be quite dim for a Sunday brunch, which can make the dining experience a little sleepy.
Will I Return Again? Overall, the quality of the Sunday Brunch buffet at Opus is not too bad. It is not as extensive a spread as Colony or Estate, but you still get a good variety of dishes on display.
This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
