Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, it was expected that life was going to be turned upside down for a while.
Britain’s longest-reigning monarch died ‘peacefully’ at Balmoral on the afternoon of 8 September, a statement from Buckingham Palace announced.
Almost immediately, TV programming was altered and events like horse racing and Premier League football fixtures were cancelled.

The Royal Mail strikes and planned train strikes for later in September have both been cancelled.
Confirming that the planned Royal Mail strike on September 9 was being cancelled or postponed, the Communication Workers Union, which represents Royal Mail workers, said on Thursday evening: ‘Following the very sad news of the passing of the Queen, and out of respect for her service to the country and her family, the union has decided to call off tomorrow’s planned strike action.’

Sharing similar sentiments, rail workers represented by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) will no longer strike on September 15 and 17.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said in a statement: ‘RMT joins the whole nation in paying its respects to Queen Elizabeth. The planned railway strike action on 15 and 17 September is suspended. We express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and the country.’
Other train drivers represented by the union Aslef have also postponed strike action on Thursday, September 15.
A rep for Aslef said: ‘In light of the sad news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Aslef is postponing its industrial action on 15 September. We express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and the country.’

The Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) rail union have also cancelled planned industrial action for September 26, saying it would be respecting the period of ‘public mourning.’
