Renters in Edmonton, Canada, Are Going to Have to Dig Deeper
Edmonton continues to lead the pack when it comes to rapidly rising rental costs, as the city struggles with its lowest vacancy rates in decades, according to a report from Zumper. The June figures showed Edmonton once again experienced the highest rent growth in Canada, jumping 20.9% compared to a year ago. Existing-Home Prices Near All-Time High in Reno, Nevada
The median sale price of a home in Reno, Nevada, hit $632,000 in May, just shy of its all-time high logged in June 2022, before mortgage rates took off, according to the latest figures from Sierra Nevada Realtors. May’s median price was the second highest on record, though the data does not include some types of housing, including condos or newly built homes. Sales Down, Inventory up in Austin, Texas
The housing market in the metropolitan area of Austin, Texas, had a 12.8% decline in homes sold in May with 4.9 months of available inventory—a level that hasn’t been seen in 13 years. The May report by the Austin Board of Realtors also showed that active listings saw an uptick of 37.7% year over year, so buyers now have the ability to be more selective when purchasing a home.
