China has officially unveiled its latest stealth fighter jet, the J-35A. This new aircraft is set to make its public debut at the upcoming Airshow China 2024, scheduled for November 12-17 in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
The J-35A is a mid-sized stealth fighter with multiple roles, including air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities. With the commissioning of the J-35A, China becomes the second nation, after the United States, to have two types of stealth fighter jets in active service. The other being the J-20, a heavy-duty stealth fighter.
The J-35A is expected to significantly enhance China’s air force capabilities and further close the gap with the United States in terms of aerial power.
