Charles became King immediately following the death of his mother last Thursday. Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 in what is understood to have been one of her favourite residences.

In a new statement, the Duke of Sussex has celebrated the role the Queen carried out over 70 years.
He said: “In celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen – and in mourning her loss – we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty.
“She was globally admired and respected. Her unwavering grace and dignity remained true throughout her life and now her everlasting legacy.
“Let us echo the words she spoke after the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, words which can bring comfort to all of us now: ‘Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings.’”

In a now famous 2021 interview with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey, Harry accused his father of cutting him off financially after his departure from royal duties.
He said: “My family literally cut me off financially.
“I’ve got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to do this. I think she saw it coming.”
A series of other accusations were made in the course of the interview, as well as by Meghan Markle.
But it is hoped the death of Elizabeth II might bring the Royal Family closer together, and that the rift between Harry and his father – and with his brother William, now the Prince of Wales – could now be healed.
Charles has now officially been proclaimed King and a state funeral for his mother will take place on September 19, which will also be a bank holiday.
