Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8 at the age of 96. King Charles III is now the monarch, and traditionally the sovereign of the United Kingdom lives in Buckingham Palace. This has been the case since the reign of Queen Victoria.
King Charles is stepping up to plan for the future of the Royal Family, which includes where everyone is going to live.
The line of succession will likely affect where each member of the Royal Family will live.
Previously, then-Prince Charles and Camilla lived at Clarence House.
However, now Charles is King, he has inherited the Queen’s official residences.

These include Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral, Sandringham, and Hillsborough in Northern Ireland.
Though there are no specific plans in place for these moves, Prince Charles will now gain access to Buckingham Palace if he wishes to change his London residence.
Royal sources have previously said he will retain his residence at Clarence House.
If this is true, Prince William could stay put with his family in Adelaide Cottage, rather than moving to Clarence House.
Prince William is now the Prince of Wales and Kate Middleton has been made the Princess of Wales.
Therefore, the couple would be expected to live in the home where the former Prince of Wales resided.
If Charles and Camilla do move into Buckingham Palace, it is likely William, Kate and their children Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, will all move to Clarence House.
It is most probable King Charles and Queen Camilla will keep their family home, Highgrove House.

The King purchased Highgrove in 1980 and is very fond of the gardens which he has helped cultivate over the last four decades, so is unlikely to want to give it up.
Llwynywermod, a residence in Wales owned by Charles and Camilla, could stay in their possession too, but the King may choose to gift it to Prince William, now that he is the Prince of Wales.
Other royal residences, such as St James’ Palace, Gatcombe Park, Ivy Cottage, The Royal Lodge, Barnwell Manor, and Wren House are occupied by other members of the Royal Family.
The Duke of York currently lives at The Royal Lodge with Sarah Ferguson, and this is unlikely to change now Charles has ascended the throne.
Princess Anne is living at Gatcombe Park, along with her children Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall and their respective families.
Princess Beatrice has reportedly been staying in St James’s Palace with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after welcoming their first child in September 2021. Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are splitting their time between Portugal and London.
Sandringham has been the Royal Family’s favourite Christmas location since the 1980s, and this is unlikely to change now Charles is King.
Charles and Camilla often visited Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral during the summer holidays, and this tradition is also unlikely to stop.
The royal couple previously stayed in their Scottish home called Birkhall, which is on the Balmoral estate. This 53,000 acre home will most likely be gifted to Prince William and Kate now that Charles and Camilla will be staying in Balmoral Castle as the monarch and Queen Consort.
