On Sunday, the Palace announced Queen Elizabeth II sprained her back and was “disappointed” she would miss the Remembrance Service. Before this, the Queen was forced to cancel a series of public outings but has continued to perform her duties that cannot be handed over to the younger generation.
Now, the Duchess of Cornwall – as well as other members of the Firm – has stepped up as the Monarch rests.
Camilla has written her latest column in WI Life Magazine and details how proud she is to be a member of the Women’s Institute and their work in ending domestic abuse.
Camilla – who is a member of the Tetbury and Llandovery WI – wrote: “As our knowledge of different types of abuse increases, so must our efforts to raise awareness to empower victims to recognise the signs and to seek help.”
The monarch is known for making an annual visit to the WI at West Newton near her Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Queen Elizabeth II started to attend meetings back in 1943 after she took over as President from the Queen Mother.
It is believed the Queen has only missed around “four or five” meetings since joining.
Back in 2015, the Queen said about the Institute’s centenary: “Women have been granted the vote, British women have climbed Everest for the first time and the country has elected its first female prime minister.
“The Women’s Institute has been a constant throughout, gathering women together, encouraging them to acquire new skills and nurturing unique talents.”

Other members of the Firm who are members of the Institute including Princess Anne, Sophie Wessex and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Although Camilla is married to the future monarch, Prince Charles, Buckingham Palace has previously stated Camilla will be known as Princess Consort instead of Queen.
When Charles and Camilla announced their wedding back in 2005, the Palace said: “It is intended that Mrs Parker-Bowles should use the title HRH The Princess Consort when the Prince of Wales accedes to the Throne.”

Charles and Camilla first began their relationship in the early 1970s but she called it off to marry Andrew Parker-Bowles.
Charles has since admitted he later had an affair with Camilla despite being married to Diana.
Following Charles and Diana’s divorce in 1996, Camilla and Charles were pictured together for the first time in public back in 1999.
Speaking back in January this year, royal expert, Robert Lacey, warned the public is still coming around to the thought of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
He said: “This new generation of the Royal Family is very important to the Crown and very important to the nation.
“As we look ahead, we obviously hope Prince Philip and the Queen are blessed with long lives, but mortality takes its toll.
“We’re not quite sure what to think about King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
“I think most people still are [coming around to the thought of Charles and Camilla].
“Whichever side you take, you have to acknowledge Camilla was the source of the conflict and the heart of the marital breakdown [of Charles and Diana] from whose consequences these boys [William and Harry] have suffered.”
Mr Lacey went on to say how Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, are “more attractive to most Britons” than Charles and Camilla.
Last year, Charles and Camilla faced backlash following the release of the fourth season of The Crown.
