Dame Mary Anne Morrison was one of the Women Of The Queen‘s Bedchamber and a former lady in waiting.
The 85-year-old received one of the highest honours in the land for serving her Majesty for more than six decades.
Dame Mary Anne Morrison is the daughter of John Morrison, known as the 1st Baron Margadale, and Margaret, Lady Margadale. Her grandparents were Lady Sophia Leveson-Gower and Hugh Morrison.
Morrison’s father and brothers were active members of the Conservative Party.
Before joining the Queen’s staff as a Woman Of The Bedchamber and later becoming a lady-in-waiting, she studied at Heathfield School in Ascot.

Women Of The Queen’s Bedchamber do not receive a salary but the role is regarded as one of the most prestigious jobs in the Palace. Other renowned Women Of The Queen’s Bedchambers include Lady Susan Hussey.
Royal historian Marlene Koenig states becoming a Woman Of The Bedchamber holds high privilege. Koeing told Insider: “To them, it’s a privilege. Some of them have become good friends [with the Queen].”
Dame Mary Anne Morrison joined the Queen’s Bedchamber in 1960 and served for more than 60 years.
Morrison also received Royal honours for serving the Queen. She was appointed Dame Commander and later Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in the 2013 birthday honours.
She also received the Royal Household Long and Faithful Service Medal in 1980 for 20 years of service to the Royal Family and later for 30, 40, 50 and 60 years of service to Queen Elizabeth II.
