The death of the Queen has triggered plans codenamed Operation London Bridge as the nation enters a period of national mourning.
Here, Sky News provides a day-by-day account of what is expected to happen from now to the monarch’s funeral.
The date the Queen died at Balmoral would traditionally have been D-Day, or D+0, in the plans.
However, the late timing of the announcement of her death – at around 6.30pm last Thursday – has meant plans have been shifted a day to allow the complex arrangements to be put in place.

Heads of state are expected to begin to arrive in the UK for the funeral.
The King will visit Wales.
A minute’s silence will be observed across the UK on Sunday at 8pm.

Monday 19 September
The Queen’s lying in state closes at 6.30am.
Her state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey at 11am, after which the Queen’s coffin will be taken to Windsor for a committal. Details of who will attend as well as the order of service are expected in the coming days.
Her funeral will be a bank holiday, King Charles has announced.
It is thought there are plans for the Queen’s coffin to process on a gun carriage to the abbey.
The military will be expected to line the streets and also join the procession.
Following the tradition of the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the Duke of Edinburgh, it is expected the family will follow behind the coffin.
Heads of state, prime ministers and presidents, European royals and key figures from public life will be invited to gather in the abbey, which can hold a congregation of 2,000.
The service will be televised, and a national two minutes’ silence is expected to be held.
The same day as the funeral, the Queen’s coffin will be taken to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for a televised committal service.
The Queen’s final resting place is thought to be the King George VI memorial chapel, an annex to the main chapel – where her mother and father were buried, along with the ashes of her sister, Princess Margaret.
