Another Quebec Liberal heavyweight has announced he won’t seek re-election this fall.
Liberal MNA Carlos Leitão confirmed in an interview with Radio-Canada published Saturday that he won’t run again for his seat in Robert-Baldwin, a riding in the West Island.
“Active politics is over,” he told the broadcaster. “I had made a commitment with my wife to serve only two terms.”

First elected in 2014, Leitao was finance minister in the Liberal government of Philippe Couillard from 2014 to 2018. He also served as Treasury Board president from 2016 to 2017.
Leitão is one of 13 Liberal MNAs to announce they will not seek re-election, about half of the current caucus.
