With a sitting room, dining area, relaxation zone, workspace, bedroom and en-suite bathroom and shower, you may as well live here.
When first class simply isn’t luxurious enough, why not turn an entire Airbus A220 into your own super-luxe private jet, and have a high-flying apartment on call whenever and wherever it’s needed?
That’s exactly what French design firm Pierrejean Vision has mapped out – and it’s certainly not the brand’s first foray into luxury travel, as founder Jacques Pierrejean also crafted Singapore Airlines’ latest-generation Airbus A380 first class suites.
Pierrejean took the nimble Airbus A220 – a jet which now counts Qantas among its customers– and gave the empty hull a multi-million dollar make-over (around US$100 million, if you’re in the market for a new VIP ride) boasting everything from a private bedroom, office and dining room through to an inflight shower, cocktail bar and TV suite and more.
Welcome aboard! Settle in and take a seat in your spacious living area.
Fancy a drink or a pre-flight bite? Your personal cabin crew can arrange that for you.
The lounge room itself offers ample storage space including a closet for your bags and jacket – but we’re sure the crew will take care of that.
Whether you sit and enjoy an apéritif, or put your feet up and relax, is entirely up to you.
Dine in style above the clouds
Follow that archway along the aircraft and you’ll emerge inside what can become the jet’s dining room.
Lending itself nicely to more mingling and relaxing, the seats all border a snack table, with the armchairs offering a literature pocket for each traveller’s favourite reading material.
When it’s time to dine, your own private restaurant takes shape at 40,000 feet, with place settings for up to six guests.
Of course, the kitchen fit-out is entirely the owner’s choice, with typical ‘plane’ options like ovens and espresso machines joining features less common in the skies, such as microwaves and toasters.
These are all kept out-of-sight, so fear not, they won’t interfere with your décor.
When there’s work to do, continue past the dining room and into your high-flying office, where your desk is always ready.
Need to host a meeting? Opening out the side table creates an extra working space – and of course, your jet can be fitted with high-speed satellite WiFi and its own mobile phone cell station, enabling voice calls and traditional text messages.
If you’ve spotted the tablets in every room, that isn’t by accident – the plane’s lighting, air conditioning, music, window blinds, and just about everything else, can be controlled over the WiFi, with separate settings possible in every zone of the plane.
After a hard day’s work, the next room will be the perfect retreat…
Netflix and chill
You didn’t really think you’d be watching TV on a typical plane screen, did you?
This Airbus A220 sports an entire room devoted solely to screen time – whether that’s a range of pre-loaded movies and TV shows on your ultra-sharp panel, satellite channels like Sport24 or streaming services like Netflix.
Sure, there might be a friendly fight for the chaise lounge at the end, but your companions should still be comfortable, after they discover their seat’s recline feature.
As in any room of your private jet, refreshments are always available on demand – just summon the crew via one of the room’s tablets.
Flying in style sure can be tiring, so when you’re ready to turn in, make your way towards the bedroom.
As in many hotels, the bedding can be switched between twin beds or a double, as required.
There’s a TV in here too – much smaller than in the previous room, of course – as well as a modern-styled dresser:
Next to the TV also sits a pod with a seat, lighted mirrors and storage space for your bits and bobs.
Remember, this is your plane, so you won’t need to worry about packing your razor or hair straightener with every trip: they can live on the jet.
Stepping through the final door unveils your private bathroom, complete with a rainfall shower.
In search of a fluffy bathrobe to complete the experience? Your jet can be stocked with those, too.
With a basic Airbus A220-300 last listed for US$91.5 million – that’s over A$132 million – and your high-end fit-out taking that total even higher, it’s fair to say the A220 private jet concept makes for some of the world’s most expensive real estate.
On the outside, it looks like any normal plane: certainly not with the ‘wow’ factor of some Beverly Hills mansions, but you’ll be on the inside, jetting from continent to continent in some serious style.
The only questions to answer once your jet arrives is who you’ll invite on its inaugural flight – and of course, which Champagnes, whiskeys, gins and caviars you’ll want stocked aboard. Yes, life is hard…
