A WW2 bomb has been discovered at the Luxembourg train station near the Büchler bridge and all trains connections are temporarily interrupted.
The explosive device was found during works on the extension of the capital’s train station and a security perimeter has been created. Train traffic on the rail network is currently disrupted. All current trains have been returned to their respective platform.
At present, no data on the duration of the train disruption is available. Any information will be shared on the CFL’s website. Delano will continue updating this article as the situation unfolds.
In March, another WW2 bomb was found near the Büchler bridge weighing 250kg. Then, the area around the train station war cordoned off between 10am and 5pm and the bomb was defused on the spot due to complications related to moving it. In the last 20 years, the Luxembourg army's de-mining service Sedal has intervened three times in the station area, defusing two 450kg bombs and one 110kg bomb.
