Since drinking water is an essential resource, it is critical that the population is informed easily and quickly in the event of a disruption.
As part of the “Smart City” initiative, the municipal council of Luxembourg City has presented a new system, which will inform the population if a problem occurs on the drinking water network.
In the event of a disruption, the system will display a message on the website of the City of Luxembourg. By clicking on this message, users will be directed to a page that summarises the most important details regarding the incident. This information will be constantly updated until the alert is lifted.
The site will also provide answers to frequently asked questions, such as the average duration of an outage or what to do if the drinking water smells funny.
On the Cityapp-VdL app, users will have a widget that gives them direct access to essential information about the drinking water network. If notifications for this widget have been activated beforehand, users will be notified if network problems occur.
