Greek owner’s Empire Navigation cooperating with US authorities in ship-to-ship transfer case
Greek owner Stamatis Molaris’ Empire Navigation is investigating whether Iranian oil was transferred on to one of its managed tankers.
US pressure group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) first brought the allegation involving the 159,000-dwt Suez Rajan (built 2011) to light in February.
Empire Navigation said it was “aware of the allegation of non-compliance regarding our managed vessel, Suez Rajan, related to a ship-to-ship transfer of Iranian oil”.
“We take these allegations very seriously and will work with the authorities to investigate this matter,” it said in a statement.
