Covid patients coming off ventilators can take weeks to regain consciousness // The New York Times
A study co-authored by Professor Emery Brown suggests the combination of Covid-19 and anesthesia could prompt the human brain into an unusual state of quiet that can last weeks or months, a state that is similar to how turtles quiet their neurons to survive winter. The findings “might point to new ways to save people from brain damage: by intentionally putting people into this state, rather than doing so by accident.”
