The City of Luxembourg has announced an increase in several aids, subsidies, and premiums granted to residents of the capital. Here is a summary of the announcements made by Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer last week.
Energy crisis, inflation, housing: residents already have many concerns and the arrival of winter is not likely to make things any easier. The government reacted by announcing “unprecedented measures” at the end of the tripartite negotiations in September.
Last week, the municipality of Luxembourg City presented its new subsidy programme, which will take effect in January 2023. The plan was drawn up to “support the inhabitants of the capital” and includes “new financial support measures” and changes to existing aids.
The City of Luxembourg notably intends on increasing the solidarity benefits, the aid for building or purchasing a home, and financial aids promoting sustainability and the rational use of energy. Subsidies for the performing arts are also programmed.
Thanks to our colleagues from RTL 5 Minutes, we have an extensive list of all the measures that Luxembourg City offers to its residents.
The municipality of Luxembourg City has scheduled a live stream for 6.30pm on 10 November during which people are able to ask questions and receive further insights on the different support measures. The live stream will simultaneously run in French, English, and Luxembourgish.
Questions have to be submitted via email to communication@vdl.lu before 7 November.
More information on the benefits in English can be found at vdl.lu.
