10/11/2022 – Low voter turnout in some countries, weakened public trust, greater political polarisation and larger groups of citizens dissociating themselves from traditional democratic processes pose significant challenges for policy makers in many OECD countries.
Ministers and high-level representatives from 38 OECD countries, the European Union, as well as OECD accession candidate countries, will meet in Luxembourg on 18 November for the OECD Public Governance Ministerial on “Building ” to advance concrete actions to address these and other pressing challenges facing democracies today.
A Ministerial Declaration and other key outcomes, will be issued at the close of the meeting. Journalists are invited to attend a press conference with Sam Tanson, Justice Minister of Luxembourg, and Kerri-Ann Jones, OECD Deputy Secretary-General, on 18 November from 14:15-14:45 CET either in person or via Zoom. For registration see: Ministerial meeting
The Ministerial meeting will be preceded on 17 November by the OECD Global Forum on Building Trust and Reinforcing Democracy, which will gather over 50 speakers from government, civil society, business, and academia to provide wider perspectives on these critical challenges and deliver their views for consideration by Ministers the following day.
