Anchors Aweigh in Antarctica

Dear Tiatira Com,
Peter Greenberg is one of a kind, but there are two of him. There’s the hard-nosed CBS journalist who has been dubbed “America’s travel editor” as he advocates for consumers.
And then there’s the other Peter Greenberg, the unabashed romantic about ships and boats who is also incredibly knowledgeable about them. He’s been a sailor since he was a boy in New York, and his fascination continues to this day.
That’s the Peter Greenberg who will serve as the master of ceremonies in Antarctica at the christening of Silversea’s new-to-fleet Silver Endeavour, of which he is clearly enamored. He is equally smitten with the ceremony, and the understanding of the importance of that moment. “You are,” he says, “a witness to history.”
It’s not the wind off the water that has my spine tingling as he describes the emotion of such an event. It’s the hope and promise of grand adventures and discoveries.
Stay curious.
Warmest Regards, |

THE POMP AND POWER OF A NEW BEGINNING |
|
The christening of the Silver Endeavour won’t be Peter Greenberg’s first turn as a master of ceremonies for a ship’s launch. But it’s not just the pomp that excites him. Each such event, each trip, he says, brings with it indelible memories, even – or maybe especially – for a man who has been nearly everywhere. His enthusiasm is infectious.

GETTING READY FOR YOUR ANTARCTIC ADVENTURE |
|
Antarctica is quite the contrarian. You’ll want to go in summer, of course, which means the warmest weather will be in January. Life at the bottom of the world is exciting, extraordinary and unexpected. If information is power, you can power up by reading our guide to sailing on Silversea in Antarctica, which will help you answer such questions from “What wildlife will I see?” to “What should I wear in a Zodiac?”
