Tuesday was one of the worst days in Donald Trump’s life.

The former President and candidate for the presidency in 2024 received bad news all day and into the evening.
January 6 Commission
The U.S. House of Representatives January 6 Committee announced Tuesday that it will issue criminal referrals.
“Representative Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, the Democratic chairman of the committee, told reporters on Capitol Hill that the panel had agreed to take the step, but had not agreed on who would be the subject of the referrals,” the New York Times reported.
“The decision of whether to issue criminal referrals has loomed large over the committee. Members on the panel have been in wide agreement that former President Donald Trump and some of his closest allies have committed a crime when he pushed a conspiracy to prevent the peaceful transfer of power, as they’ve laid out in their hearings,” CNN reported. “But they have long been split over what to do about it, including whether to make a criminal referral of Trump to the Justice Department.”
Trump’s Corporation Found Guilty
Seal of the District Attorney
The Trump Organization, the family real estate business, was convicted on Tuesday of tax fraud and other crimes.
The conviction on all 17 counts, after more than a day of jury deliberations in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, stemmed from the company’s practice of provding off-the-books perks to executives, which included received luxury apartments, leased Mercedes-Benzes, extra cash at Christmas, even free cable television. The jury found that they failed to pay taxes.
“The Manhattan district attorney’s office, which prosecuted the case, had previously obtained a guilty plea from the scheme’s architect, Allen H. Weisselberg, the company’s longtime chief financial officer. Mr. Weisselberg, one of Mr. Trump’s most loyal lieutenants, testified as the prosecution’s star witness but never implicated the former president,” wrote the New York Times.
THE TRUMP CORPORATION and THE TRUMP PAYROLL CORP. were each convicted by a New York State Supreme Court jury of:
Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree, a class E felony, one count
Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony, one count
Criminal Tax Fraud in Third Degree, a class D felony, two counts
Criminal Tax Fraud in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony, one count
Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, a class E felony, three counts
THE TRUMP CORPORATION was also convicted of an additional count of:
Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, a class E felony
“This was a case about greed and cheating. In Manhattan, no corporation is above the law,” said District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “For 15 years, the Trump Corporation and the Trump Payroll Corporation got away with a scheme that awarded high-level executives with lavish perks and compensation while intentionally concealing the benefits from the taxing authorities to avoid paying taxes. Today’s verdict holds these Trump companies accountable for their long-running criminal scheme, in addition to Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg, who has pled guilty, testified at trial and will now be sentenced to serve time in jail.”
Trump's Handpicked Herschel Walker Loses in Georgia Senate Race
GOP candidate for U.S. Senate Herschel Walker PHOTO: Campaign
In Georgia, the Republican governor swept to victory in November, but Trump's hand-picked Senate candidate Herschel Walker underperformed in the November election and in the runoff.
Republican Brian Kemp beat Democrat Stacey Abrams in the Georgia governor's race 53% to 45% in November. Walker had been stuck at 48% both in the general — and the runoff.
“After a hard-fought campaign – or should I say campaigns – it is my honor to utter the four most powerful words ever spoken in a democracy: The people have spoken,” U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock said to a cheering crowd at his victory party Tuesday night.
Walker conceded the race in brief remarks to supporters, urging people to continue to vote in elections and support elected officials.
“There are no excuses in life and I’m not going to make any now because we put up one heck of a fight,” Walker said.
But, the implication for Trump is that another one of his selected candidates lost this election cycle.
