Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan will be given a day of public holiday on 3 December 2021 (Friday) after football club Kuala Lumpur City FC clinched the Malaysia Cup title on 30 November 2021 (Tuesday). This holiday was declared by Malaysia’s Minister for Federal Territories Dr Shahidan Kassim yesterday (1 December 2021).
“In conjunction with the victory of the 100th Malaysia Cup for KL City FC last night, which also ended a 32-year wait for the Kuala Lumpur team, I am pleased to announce an additional public holiday for the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan on this Friday, 3 December 2021,” the Minister wrote.
Based on The Star‘s sports report, KL City FC beat Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) 2-0, with winger Zhafri Yahya and club captain Paulo Josue scoring the goals. This is KL City FC’s long-awaited Malaysian Cup title after 32 years, with the last title won in 1989.
