Yeah Yeah Yeahs share new song ‘Burning’
Yeah Yeah Yeahs give us another preview of their upcoming album Cool it Down with “Burning.”
The song is inspired by a night when a 19-year-old Karen O went out for a drink and returned to find her East Village apartment on fire due to a candle she forgot to put out. All of her electronics were destroyed.
“But oddly enough the items that held the most sentimental value remained intact like sketchbooks, a favorite sweater with hearts across the chest, and photographs,” Karen O writes in a statement. “I had photos of my parents in their youth where the fire burnt around the two of them as if there was some intangible force field protecting them… If the world is on fire I hope the most beloved stay protected and that we do all we can to protect what we cherish most in this life. ‘Burning’ is a song about that feeling.”

Rage Against the Machine cancel 2022 UK/European tour
Rage Against the Machine have canceled their highly anticipated UK/European tour “per medical guidance” for injured frontman Zack de la Rocha.
During the band’s Chicago show on July 11th, the singer injured his leg four songs into the band’s set. He’s been performing seated ever since. The band wrapped up their North American tour over the weekend with a multi-night stand at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The UK/European leg was set to kick off in September.
The full statement reads as follows:
“Per medical guidance, Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the Rage Against the Machine tour cannot proceed. It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation.
Rage Against the Machine will be finishing their run at Madison Square Garden on August 11, 12 & 14 and then Zack must return home for rest and rehabilitation. The flights, travel time, and rigorous schedule in the UK and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery.
We are so sorry to all of our fans who have waited years to see us and hope to Rage again soon.
Please contact your point of purchase for refunds to any headline shows.”
See the band’s statement below. The band’s 2023 dates remain confirmed.

New Years Day release new single ‘Hurts Like Hell’
New Years Day recently shared their new single and music video for “Hurts Like Hell.”
“‘Hurts Like Hell’ might seem like a song about a relationship on the surface; in a way, it is, I suppose,” states New Years Day singer Ash Costello. “As I struggled to navigate how to continue to pursue my passion during the pandemic, I realized that chaos is where I thrive. I will stare down any obstacle, even if I look like a crazy person to subject myself to it.
Eleanor Roosevelt said, ‘We all know people who are so afraid of pain that they shut themselves up […] and shrink until life is a mere living death.’ Turning pain into progress and tragedy into triumph is a particularly satisfying victory. As the saying goes: ‘nothing worth having comes easy.’ That is what ‘Hurts Like Hell’ means to me. The song is an acceptance and celebration of my relationship with chaos.”

New Years Day will embark on their fall headline tour starting October 8th in Palmdale, California. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 19th. Check out all their dates here.
Enter Shikari and Wargasm unveil joint single ‘The Void Stares Back’
Enter Shikari and Wargasm have shared their new collab single “The Void Stares Back.”
“It is with elation, and more than a little nervousness, that we release this: our first track after over two years of dormancy,” says frontman Rou Reynolds.
“It is a roisterous journey made all the more so with the addition of our friends WARGASM. Thematically, the piece is about the forward march of social progress, and how, often, those with a more conventional archaic outlook on sexuality, gender, social design, economics etc, see those with differing ideas like bewildering, depraved creatures from another dimension.”
“Shikari were a big part of our growing up, so it was an absolute honour to be asked to collaborate with such an incredible and well-spoken band,” WARGASM add. “They stand for the right things – we’re a little more pessimistic. It was fun playing the darker devil’s advocate to Rou’s light… where we’re going, you won’t need eyes to see…”
