Not a lot of time has passed since Huawei released the Watch GT 2 Pro, but the company already has a new model in the pipeline. The new model will still be the Watch GT 2 Pro, but it will have electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality onboard. Many smartwatches have heart rate monitors, albeit some models actively deceive people, but ECG or EKG is one step further.
Few smartwatches support ECG functionality, Apple’s offerings have supported it for a while now. Others, like the Galaxy Watch 3 and Watch Active 2, have the capabilities to support ECG functionality, but Samsung is yet to activate it in many countries.
Huawei has only announced the ECG model in China for the time being, where it will retail for CNY 2,688 (~US$402). The Watch GT 2 Pro ECG will go on sale in China in December, but it is unknown if Huawei is planning a wider release for the smartwatch. If that is the case, then it will probably launch for around £50 or €50 more than the regular Watch GT 2 Pro.
