NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are bound to make waves with their new Netflix series.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive six-part documentary is set to drop several episodes on December 8, with further instalments arriving on December 15.
Judging by two headline-grabbing trailers, in addition to any bombshells about life in the Royal Family, the couple will show off photos of their relationship, as well as more of their life in the US.
But when was it that the pair were last here in the UK? And are they expected to be back anytime soon?
Here’s all you need to know.
Prince Harry and Meghan were last in the UK in September 2022.
The Sussexes touched down on UK soil on September 4, 2022, for an appearance at the One Young World Summit in Manchester on September 5. Meghan gave a speech, where she said it was ‘very nice to be back’.
They then jetted to Dusseldorf in Germany for an event marking one year to go until the 2023 Invictus Games on September 6.
Finally, they returned to the UK for the WellChild Awards on September 8.
However, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away that afternoon, plunging the UK into a national mourning period and meaning they were unable to attend that event.
After The Queen’s death, Harry and Meghan remained in the UK longer than had been anticipated.
The couple met crowds of mourners at Windsor Castle – in a show of unity with The Prince and Princess of Wales – on September 10, and attended The Queen’s funeral on September 19.
Prior to that, the Netflix documentary subjects were last in the UK for the Platinum Jubilee.
The couple, along with young children Archie and Lilibet, made the transatlantic trip from June 2 to June 5, 2022.
The Sussexes kept a rather low profile as they joined the nation in celebrating The Queen’s 70 years on the throne.
On Thursday, June 2, they were spotted in London at Trooping the Colour – albeit not on the Buckingham Palace balcony, but watching from the Major General’s Office.
Harry and Meghan then appeared at the National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday, June 3.
American-born Lilibet celebrated her first birthday – June 4 – in the UK, too, in the gardens of Windsor’s Frogmore Cottage. An adorable birthday portrait from the party was released.
During the visit, it’s been reported that the late Queen, and now King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, met Lilibet for the first time privately.
Harry and Meghan have lived in North America since January 2020.
The couple first set up home in Canada – a Commonwealth country where the monarch is still Head of State, and where ex-actress Meghan previously worked on TV drama Suits.
Vancouver Island was where they stayed, after their initial ‘step back’ from royal duties.
Eventually, the Sussexes’ departure as working members of the Royal Family was fully confirmed on January 18, in a statement shared by Buckingham Palace.
They completed their last engagement as royals, attending the Commonwealth Day Service, on March 9, 2020 – and soon moved to Meghan’s home state of California.
Originally, they spent a few months living in the Los Angeles city of Beverly Hills, staying in a home owned by Meghan’s filmmaker pal, Tyler Perry, while they got on their feet.
In July 2020, the couple moved into their Montecito mansion in Santa Barbara, where they still reside today.

It’s not yet known when The Sussexes might hop across the pond for a UK visit. If anything is announced, we’ll update this piece and let you know.
Since there have been two recent visits, in June and September 2022, it could be a little while before there’s another.
However, it does seem likely that Prince Harry will be back in Europe at least by next September, as the 2023 Invictus Games – which he founded – will kick off in Dusseldorf.
