Legislation sets guidelines for the installation of projects in the South American nation
The Brazilian Senate has passed a bill of law proposing a regulatory framework for the implementation of offshore energy projects in the country.
Drafted by Jean Paul Prates, a senator from the opposition Workers’ Party, the federal bill was approved by the infrastructure services commission at the upper house and will now head to the Chamber of Deputies for voting.
The bill sets legal guidelines for the concession of rights to explore offshore wind. It applies to inland waters under the government’s domain, territorial sea, continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone.
