Prince Harry “seems to want revenge”, a royal commentator said after reading the Duke of Sussex’s memoir. Explaining he thought releasing the 416-page memoir titled Spare was “a bad idea”, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said upon appearing on RNZ’s podcast Nights with Karyn Hay: “So you wonder, launching a memoir was always, I thought, a bad idea. Even the Duke of Windsor, 15 years after the abdication, he published the King’s Story, but this was a completely different era and the book, although it caused some controversy, was nothing like this… these are direct, fierce, vengeful attacks on the Royal Family.
“He seems to want revenge. Also, the word ‘spare’, overshadowed by his brother, the heir and the spare, was always bitter, but I don’t think anyone thought the book could be quite as vengeful and angry as it is.” Mr Fitzwilliams also wondered what the “long-term goal” of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is after they have launched a series of criticism and claims against the Royal Family between December and early January. This comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex published a 24-page report of their Archewell Foundation. Launched in late 2020, the Foundation is the non-profit arm of Meghan and Harry, via which they carry out charitable work as well as support and promote initiatives focused on veterans, mental health and communities. Among the work done by Archewell between 2020 and 2022, the report highlighted the 12.66 million COVID-19 vaccines produced in partnership with Global Citizen for people around the world and the 50,000 meals served to those in need via the collaboration with the World Central Kitchen.
The King is set to make his own mark with his Coronation as the royal sets forth how his reign will break tradition for a modernised monarchy.
It has been reported that the most private moment of the ceremony may be shown in public for the first time at Charles’ coronation.
The most sacred part of the ceremony is when the Archbishop of Canterbury anoints the hands, breast, and head of the monarch with holy oil.
This honour is traditionally veiled from the public as seen at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953.
The anointment of the former sovereign saw a canopy made of gold cloth held over her head.
The canopy is traditionally carried and held over the Monarch by the Barons of the Cinque Ports or Knights of the Garter.
Charles may instead decide to have the scholars of Christ’s Hospital carry his canopy. The boarding school offers an education to less privileged children.
Reports in The Telegraph claim that the King will have a transparent canopy which will allow the public to see the anointing for the first time.
When deciding on a gift for his youngest nephew, Prince Harry was inspired by memories of his late-mother Princess Diana.
Diana’s youngest son has frequently spoken of his heart-warming memories of his childhood and wished to pass these on in some way.
The former Princess of Wales had a passion for collecting the first editions of classic books and decided to carry on this tradition with his nephews and niece.
The 38-year-old reportedly spent £8,000 on Louis to purchase an original 1926 copy of A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh.
In the first publication of the book, only 30,000 copies were made and it is understood the Prince purchased one of these rare books.
A friend of the Duke of Sussex said that books played a key part in Harry’s favourite childhood memories.
Camilla should not drop “consort” from her title, according to a new poll of Express.co.uk readers.
Queen Elizabeth II said it was her “sincere wish” for King Charles III‘s wife to have the title of Queen Consort Camilla.
Yet Camilla could see her title changed later this year, before the Coronation, to drop the word “consort” and bring her name in line with previous spouses of the Monarch. However, a new poll of Express.co.uk readers has found almost 60 per cent disagree.
On the 70th anniversary of her ascension to the throne, the late Queen announced: “It is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
In a poll that ran from 8am on Saturday, January 28, to 4pm on Monday, January 30, Express.co.uk asked readers: “Should Queen Camilla be allowed to drop ‘consort’ from her title?”
Overall, 16,834 readers cast their votes, with the vast majority, 59 per cent (9,894 people) answering “no” Camilla shouldn’t be allowed to change her title.
In contrast, 40 per cent (6,774 people) said “yes” she should be known as Queen Camilla, and a further one per cent (166 people) said they did not know either way.
On Tuesday evening, Dan Wootton clashed with his GB News show guest Nina Myskow about their opinion on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and if the Sussexes should attend King Charles’ coronation.
It is uncertain whether the Duke and Duchess will attend the coronation after the release of their Netflix documentary and Prince Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’, which was published earlier this month.
On Sunday, it was reported that King Charles wishes for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to attend his coronation, which is now less than 100 days away.
The Daily Mail revealed that King Charles reportedly asked the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to broker an agreement between Prince Harry and Prince William which will allow the Sussexes to attend the coronation on May 6.
On GB News, host Dan Wootton discussed the recent revelations with his show guests; Ingrid Seward, who is editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, and Nina Myskow, a journalist and columnist for the Sun.
Dan Wootton said he was “really worried” about the Archbishop “getting involved” in negotiations between Prince Harry and the Royal Family.
He said: “Sources over the weekend have described [the Archbishop] as ‘under the spell’ of Meghan and Harry. He’s on their side.
“If he’s the one doing the brokering on the deal, I worry about what he is going to concede.”
Ingrid Seward said she does not believe the Archbishop “should get involved” as the talks are “a father-son thing”
She added: “The whole of Harry’s life, he’s known that his father is going to be King and that’s coloured his childhood and coloured his life, of course he has to be there.
“It would be unthinkable if he wasn’t, and would create far more fuss if he wasn’t there.”
Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, visited schools, community and voluntary organisations running the Duke of Edinburgh award in and around Blackpool on Monday.
He spent time with young people who are making a difference in their communities through the volunteering part of the scheme.
Prince Edward, a trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh award as well as chairman of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, visited both the Oracle Youth Club and Thames Primary Academy on Monday.
Pictures showed the royal, who wore a navy DoE fleece, beaming as he chatted to the young people.
The Duke of Edinburgh award was founded by the late Prince Philip in 1956 as a way of encouraging teenagers and young adults to engage with the outdoors whilst embarking on a series of self-improving exercises.
In order to complete the award, the individual must complete a series of exercises, a certain amount of voluntary work and a final expedition.
The Duke of Edinburgh holds another significance for Edward, as he was promised to inherit the title from his father.
A statement read: “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales have also agreed that Prince Edward should be given the Dukedom of Edinburgh in due course, when the present title held now by Prince Philip eventually reverts to the Crown.”
Sophie Wessex later revealed it was Philip’s own wish for Edward to take on the Edinburgh dukedom.

Kate Middleton has opened up on her “life’s work” at a major event at the BAFTA headquarters in central London tonight ahead of the launch of her new campaign, Shaping Us.
The Princess of Wales stepped out for the event with her husband Prince William to mark her campaign from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
She has described this campaign as her “life’s work”, and aims to increase public understanding of the crucial importance the first five years of a child’s life.
The princess told the audience: “The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become.
“During this time we lay the foundations and building blocks for life. And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world in which we live.
“This is why it is essential, to not only understand the unique importance of our earliest years, but to know what we can all do to help raise future generations of happy, healthy adults.”

Kantar’s quarterly survey, which quizzed 20,000 people in the US and 12,000 in the UK about their viewing habits and satisfaction in December, found the couple’s series paled in comparison to royals drama The Crown.
Americans ranked The Crown as the third most enjoyed programme across streaming platforms.
But in contrast, the Sussexes’ documentary was the 95th most enjoyed programme in the US – ranking a huge 92 places behind the royals drama.

Prince Harry was born third in line to the throne but is currently in fifth position behind older brother Prince William and the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The Duke of Sussex’s bombshell tell-all memoir, Spare, went on sale earlier this month and made a number of stunning claims against the Royal Family.
Do you think he should lose his place in the line of succession? Vote in our poll.
The Duke of Sussex “can’t negotiate” when it comes to the coronation of his father King Charles III, according to royal biographer Angela Levin.
She told Talk TV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer: “[Negotiating] to give him good seats right at the front, I think that’s terrible. He doesn’t deserve it.
“The important thing is that Harry can’t negotiate, he doesn’t want to give. He’s not somebody who will say: ‘Look, I’m sorry, let’s work together on this.”
But Ms Levin said following the commercial success of Meghan and his Netflix docuseries and his memoir Spare, Harry will likely feel “more confident” in negotiations with his family
She continued: “He now feels more confident that he’s got the knack for actually dealing with the Royal Family and he wants to win. I think he won’t say yes or no right up to the last minute.”

In his tell-all memoir, Prince Harry wrote candidly about his life both inside and outside of the Royal Family.
The Duke of Sussex went into unprecedented detail, revealing personal thoughts, feelings and experiences.
At one point, Harry recounted his wife Meghan Markle going into labour with their firstborn child, Archie.
He admitted to taking several “penetrating hits” of laughing gas, a confession that has provoked backlash from some commentators.
Andrea Caamano and Emmy Griffiths, hosts of HELLO! Magazine’s A Right Royal Podcast, discussed Harry’s book earlier this month.
Ms Caamano referenced a conversation she had had with a friend, who argued: “The only thing I can take away from this is that Megan has three children”, a sentiment the royal journalist did “not disagree” with.
She explained: “Him taking all the laughing gas, for me, that’s a red line. That’s just not funny.”

King Charles III could try to temporarily freeze the ongoing feud between the Royal Family, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to avoid being upstaged.
Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti forecast His Majesty will try to secure some form of “reconciliation” with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before the ceremony.
The couple’s presence at the Coronation has been thrown into question after they levelled a series of accusations against the institution in their Netflix documentary, and later in the Duke’s memoir, Spare.
Mr Sacerdoti told Us Weekly: “I suspect that there are some efforts going on to try and make some form of reconciliation.
“I think because they don’t want family tensions to upstage what’s going on on that very important day.
“Whether or not that’s possible is one thing, and whether or not it’s lasting is another thing. Even if they do manage to make some form of peace, [it] might be temporary.”

See the pictures here Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been “enjoying” sympathy from the US public after cutting ties with the Royal Family two years ago, royal expert Victoria Arbiter has claimed.
But the royal couple “did not expect” the negative criticism of Harry’s bombshell memoir.
Ms Arbiter told TalkTV: “It’s very difficult to speak for Harry and Meghan in terms of what their overall objective was with the Netflix docuseries, with the book.
“I think Harry with his book in particular was very keen to get his side of the story across so mission accomplished in that regard.
“He doesn’t hold anything back as anyone who has read the book knows, he’s very willing to share every facet of his life.
“In that regard, I think yes, he has achieved his objective but I don’t think the book was received quite how he was hoping.
“There are people that remain hugely sympathetic to him but there’s been a lot of criticism so, the broader public is talking about him in a way that I think he perhaps didn’t anticipate.”
