WATERLOO REGION — Winter is back.
Wednesday’s winter storm dumped 15 to 20 centimetres of snow across Waterloo Region, causing some closures and cancellations.
On Thursday, all school buses, taxis and special education routes for Waterloo Region District School Board and Waterloo Catholic District School Board have been cancelled.
WRDSB and WCDSB schools are open. Extended day programs and child care centres in schools are open and operating.
All transportation, games and competitions for Waterloo County Secondary School Athletics Association (WCSSAA) are cancelled for Thursday.
St. Louis online, daytime and evening classes are open at all WCDSB locations.
On Wednesday, the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge and the townships of Wellesley, Wilmot, Woolwich and North Dumfries all declared a snow event. This means a street parking ban was in effect from 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, and will remain in place for at least 24 hours. Kitchener cancelled its snow event effective 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Vehicles left on the road may be ticketed or towed.
Kitchener and Cambridge have maps that are updated as snow plows make their way around the cities. Residents can type in an address to see if plows have been to that location.
Campuses of the University of Waterloo, Laurier and Conestoga College have reopened after closing early Wednesday for the weather. As of Thursday at 7:20 a.m., Laurier’s Kitchener location is considered controlled access only.
