Founded in 1986, Newark-based Nickle Electrical Cos. Has been serving the electrical needs of residential, commercial and industrial customers in Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The company’s mission is to provide exceptional services within a culture built on integrity, quality and accountability, and Nickle’s efforts have earned it second place in the mid-size company category of The News Journal’s Top Workplaces competition for 2022.
The vision of the company focuses on establishing trusting relationships and always doing what’s right, and these values include doing so for their employees, too.
“We are all team players and work well together. I feel appreciated for the work that I do,” said a Top Workplaces employee submission. “The managers are very understanding when it comes to balancing work and home life.”
One employee praises how important their senior staff makes them feel, saying “you are always made to feel like an asset to the team. Managers make it known how each role is vital to the company running correctly and efficiently. Nickle definitely roots for their employees’ development and success.”
This sentiment is echoed by another employee submission, which said, “I have the flexibility to do what I need to get the job done. I have the support of my managers and my coworkers to work efficiently and effectively.”
“It is awesome and humbling to know this achievement is earned through the positive responses and comments from the employees. And I am very proud to lead such an exceptional group of people,” said Steve Dignan, president and CEO of Nickle Electrical Cos.
This is the company’s eighth time placing in The News Journal’s Top Workplaces competition and their six consecutive honor since 2017.
Aside from cultivating an environment where staff feel acknowledged and valued, employees also emphasize how they are encouraged to try new things and have ample opportunities to advance their careers.
An anonymous submission said, “I am learning all the time and Nickle is always willing to pay for me to benefit me and make Nickle strong in the working field.”
“I get to see various aspects of our business, I’m not just stuck doing one thing all the time, and I have the flexibility to change up my daily routine if things start to feel stagnant,” an employee said.
Another added, “from my seat, I’m afforded the ability to mentor/coach and see growth at all levels of the organization.”
