Real Estate Investment in Portugal Rose 67% in 2022
Real estate investment in Portugal increased 67% year over year to €3.3 billion (US$3.54 billion) last year, according to the latest report from Savills. The country’s warm climate, beautiful natural landscapes and relatively low cost of living have appealed to many foreign buyers. In Spain, real estate investment increased 39% year over year to €16 billion, but Savills expects a lower volume of investment there this year. Italy’s real estate investment reached €11.6 billion, up 26% from the previous year. The Portugal News
A Duplex Penthouse in Dubai Asks for US$50 Million
A duplex penthouse atop Volante, a 35-story tower in Dubai built along the city’s Water Canal, is on the market for US$50 million. The 19,000-square-foot residence comes with a two-level rooftop terrace with views of the city skyline. Serviced by a private elevator, the penthouse includes four bedrooms, each with its own living space, and an open-plan living area featuring high ceilings and glass doors that open onto the terrace. Chinese Developers Warn of Record Losses in 2022
Country Garden Holdings, China’s largest property developer by sales last year, warned on Monday it’s set to report a loss of as much as US$1 billion for 2022. The warning came two days after another developer, Shanghai-based CIFI, flagged a loss of up to US$2 billion last year. The Covid lockdowns and stricter financing rules in the country have caused developers to struggle with their projects and cash flows. Australian Jeweler Paid A$8 Million for House in Paddington, New South Wales
Christine Bracher, creative director of Paspaley Pearl Jewellery, Australia’s largest pearling company, paid A$8.01 million (US$5.3 million) for a home in Paddington, New South Wales, through an off-market deal. Ms. Bracher recently sold her mansion in Bellevue Hill, a harborside suburb of Sydney, for A$16.75 million.
