Michelin Guide: 10 restaurants and bars in Sheffield that have picked up top awards including JORO, Viraaj and Kelham Island Tavern
Heart of the City: Sheffield turned into £480m construction site – but which new buildings have takers?
Mattress Online has taken over the former Discount Beds store on Alderson Road near Bramall Lane in a move bosses say has cost £285,000 and created six jobs.
It is the third physical outlet for the firm, which also has sites on Rail Mill Way in Rotherham and Skipton, in a plan to have 10 within five years.
The Rotherham-based company was incorporated in 2004 and started off solely online. In the last financial year it says it had 3.1m web visitors, 128,500 orders and sales of £37.5m.
It says it also saved more than 40,000 mattresses going to landfill last year – customers are charged £28 to take their old one away.
Steve Adams, Mattress Online chief executive officer, said: “It is really exciting to be launching our very first branded store here in South Yorkshire, increasing our footprint as a business and creating new jobs locally.
“This omnichannel approach blends our product selection, high level of service and seamless delivery model with a personalised face-to-face service, strengthening our brand in the north of England.
“As customer needs and behaviours change, companies need to be able to change with them and as a fast-growing tech-driven company, we are always looking to innovate and try new approaches.
“Our physical stores offer the best of both worlds and we’re looking forward to welcoming customers into our new premises which is just a goal-kick from Bramall Lane.”
