The free PlayStation Plus games for August 2022 are now available to claim for subscribers on both PlayStation 4 and PS5.
The first Tuesday of every month is always an exciting day for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It's on the first Tuesday of each month that PlayStation Plus subscribers are able to claim a new batch of free PS Plus games, with PS4 and PS5 titles up for grabs. August 2022 is no different, with PS Plus subscribers now able to claim the latest set of free games for their digital libraries, regardless of which PS Plus tier they're signed up for.
The free PS Plus games for August 2022 are available to claim now, with PS Plus subscribers in most regions able to snag three different games for their collections. The free PS Plus games for August 2022 consist of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Little Nightmares. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon have both PS4 and PS5 versions for subscribers to claim, while Little Nightmares only has a native PS4 release.
This means that PS Plus subscribers are able to claim and play all three free games for August 2022 regardless of whether they've been able to upgrade to a PS5 or not. Since the PlayStation 5 is backward compatible with PS4 games, PS5 users are able to snag Little Nightmares as well. All these games will be available to PS Plus subscribers until they're replaced by next month's free games on September 6.
The addition of Yakuza: Like a Dragon is significant as it's the start of other Yakuza games becoming available through PS Plus, though the other games in the series will require fans subscribe to the higher tiers. All the other Yakuza games are scheduled to come to the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers later this year, so by the end of 2022, those signed up for the pricier tiers can play the entire series.
It's worth pointing out that those subscribed to the pricier PS Plus tiers can claim these free games as well. PS Plus Essential is all that's required for the monthly free games, but PS Plus Extra gets players the monthly free games in addition to access to a large library of PS4 and PS5 titles. PS Plus Premium, meanwhile, has all the benefits of PS Plus Essential and Extra, but with retro games thrown in to sweeten the pot.
