TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia has an undeniably natural charm. The waterfall is only one of the stunning natural beauty the country has to offer. It is a perfect place in nature to unwind.
Apart from the beautiful scenery, the natural beauty of the waterfall can also be calming. Thus, it is not surprising that waterfall sites are facilitated as tourist destinations.
Here is the list of recommendations for the most beautiful waterfalls in Indonesia that are worth visiting:
1. Sendang Gile, Lombok
Lombok is among the many known islands in Indonesia that have a variety of beautiful natural scenery. On the island in West Nusa Tenggara, the Sendang Gile waterfall is worth visiting. This beautiful waterfall is located in the area of Mount Rinjani National Park. The 31-meter-high waterfall is surrounded by lots of green that add to the beautiful atmosphere.
2. Dua Warna Sibolangit Waterfall, North Sumatra
Located in Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, the waterfall has double-colored water; light blue and greyish clear. Reaching the waterfall requires extra effort due to its location in a dense forest. But it is going to be worth the effort once you arrive at the location and are welcomed by the stunning beauty.
3. Grojogan Sewu, Karanganyar
Another beautiful waterfall in Indonesia is located in Tawangmangu District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. The name of the waterfall originates from its location in the Grojogan Sewu Tourism Forest Area on the slopes of Mount Lawu. Here, visitors can enjoy several waterfalls, with the highest waterfall in the area reaching 80 meters high.
4. Nglirip Waterfall, Tuban
Nglirip Waterfall is located in Tuban, East Java, or precisely in Jojogan, Mulyoagung Village, Singgahan. The waterfall has a height of 30 meters and a width of 28 meters. In addition, the water looks very fresh and clear as its sourced from several water sources in the Krawak Forest area. Behind the waterfall, there is a cave which is said to be often used as a place of meditation.
5. Coban Pelangi Waterfall, Malang
The beauty of Coban Pelangi Waterfall lies within its name which means rainbow, as the waterfall could display a colorful look. For those who are interested to visit, it’s best to come around 10:00 – 14:00 on a sunny day as during that time, the sun will reflect the light around the waterfall, causing it to create a rainbow reflection in the water. The 110 meters high waterfall is located in the Bromo National Park area, Gubugklakah Village, Poncokusumo, Malang.
6. Madakaripura, Probolinggo
Another beautiful waterfall in Indonesia is located in Probolinggo, East Java. The Madakaripura Waterfall has a strong magical charm surrounded by cold water and a cool atmosphere. The 200 meters height waterfall has the charm to bring curiosity to those who want to visit. It is also believed that there is a cave where the great Gajah Mada meditated.
7. Sri Gethuk Waterfall, Gunungkidul
At Sri Gethuk Waterfall, you can enjoy the fresh water that comes from three water springs, namely Kedung Poh, Ngandong, and Ngumbul. Here, people are allowed to swim and play in the water. Some say that at a certain time, you can hear the sound of gamelan from the direction of the waterfall belonging to a genie named Anggo Meduro, or Jin Anggo Meduro. This 25-meter high waterfall is located in Menggoran, Bleberan Village, Playen District, Gunungkidul Regency.
