TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – SOE Minister BUMN Erick stated that the amount of PLN’s debt has declined. From initially Rp500 trillion, the state power company now owes Rp407 trillion.
Speaking in a working meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission VI on Wednesday, September 21, Erick attributed the debt reduction to a “push” from the ministry as well as oversight by the Commission.
Erick said that the SOE Ministry made restructuring efforts to reduce PLN’s burdens. Since last year, the ministry has been reviewing the formation of sub-holdings for the state-run electricity firm. The ministry also conducted benchmarking with a number of countries, such as Korea, Italy, France, and Malaysia.
Erick ensured that his ministry pushed to accelerate the payment and settlement of PLN’s debts so that the company can quickly adapt to various challenges, such as transitioning energy towards green industry and economic digitalization.
“These accelerations are part of an effort to keep PLN’s cash flow healthy,” he said.
