TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Directorate General of Traffic for Metro Jaya Police will be testing the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) mobile unit on several arterial roads in Jakarta. The trial will go into effect starting Wednesday, December 7, 2022
“This has been put on trial to the public for it to put in action on Wednesday,” said the Directorate General of Traffic for Metro Jaya Police, Chief Commissioner Usman Latif, quoted by Tempo.co from the official website of the NTMC Polri.
Regarding the preparations, Latif said that the Polda Metro already has dozens of cars equipped with cameras for electronic traffic ticketing, and will operate to travel around the capital city to record any traffic offender.
“They will travel around every perimeter of Jakarta’s road and arterial routes. There are 11 (ETLE Mobile units) active for testing and South Tangerang already has 1,” he explained.
The trial on the ETLE Mobile in Jakarta will be in effect for the next week. Later, on December 13 2022, the Metro Jaya Police will officially launch the mobile electronic traffic ticket.
“It was postponed as we are still waiting for the activities from the regional and national police chief,” he concluded.
