Think Twitter retweets and you get the general idea of how this will work.

TikTok is testing a new “Repost” button that lets users share videos on the platform with their own followers.
As TechCrunch reports(Opens in a new window), the retweet-esque feature promotes clips to followers within TikTok. The similarities end there, though. Reposted videos don’t appear on your own profile, and are sent only to mutual friends’ For You feeds. So don’t expect to get recommendations from big-name creators who don’t follow you back.
While the move does severely limit the reach of reposted videos, particularly those being shared primarily by the network’s most popular users, it also circumvents current rules requiring folks to create their own remix (by stitching or dueting with original content) when resharing others’ clips.
Simply tap the yellow-and-white icon to promote your favorite clips, but some users may see the button labelled as “Recommend.” As with a quote tweet, you’ll be prompted to add your own thoughts to the post, which are published above the creator’s name and video description. If you change your mind, navigate to the Share menu > Remove Repost.
TikTok confirmed to TechCrunch that the button is currently being tested with a small number of users publicly.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” according to a company statement emailed to PCMag. It’s unclear when, or if, TikTok will roll out the Repost button to all users. “Currently, we’re experimenting with a new way for people to share TikTok videos they enjoy.”
