Remember when Sir Patrick Stewart entertained us all during the height of the Covid pandemic by reading Shakespeare sonnets on Instagram? The 82-year-old social media whiz—and star of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard—has just joined TikTok, and he’s kicking things off in grand literary style.
Sir Patrick introduced himself with “Hi. Well I am joining TikTok, and I thought i should celebrate it with the 12 days of Christmas.”
Sitting in front of a crackling fire, he then began to read Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, starting with the book’s dramatic first sentence, “Marley was dead: to begin with.”
The first video went up today and no doubt there will be something new to look forward to every day until the 12 days are done.
For those of you not on TikTok, you can watch the videos via Instagram. If you are, you can follow Sir Patrick’s account here.
Stewart returns to lead the final season of Star Trek: Picard on February 16, 2023 on Paramount+ in the U.S., joined by his TNG costars Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis, and (recent winner of a Lifetime Achievement Emmy) LeVar Burton.

Saw his Christmas Carol stage play in 2005. Was great time especially at that time of year in London. and he did the laugh at the end 😄 (see the 1999 tvm). waited outside after the show and he came out said hello, signed programs etc to everyone there. just a wonderful night
At that time he was inbetween XMens but little did anyone know then (incl him) he would return full time to Star Trek! (and full on TNG next year)
Ha, we might have been at the same performance!
Players gotta play…
Great timing, joining Tiktok just as its about to be banned 🤣
He could read a phone book and it would be a joy to hear! Love this guy no matter what he does!
