TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chief Erick Thohir said his side received US$5.6 million or around Rp86.5 billion from football’s world governing body FIFA for the development of national football, including construction projects of training camps.
“FIFA has a ‘Forward 3.0’ program. The program expects competition in the country including coaching. Through this program, we also get the blessing to build training camps assisted by FIFA worth US$5.6 million,” said Erick after the launching event of the official products of the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 8.
Forward 3.0 is a new policy launched by FIFA in January 2023. The aim of the program is to provide comprehensive funding for the development of football worldwide.
According to Erick, the funds will be channeled to the PSSI Provincial Association (Asprov) to assist in coaching and competition programs in their region.
“The coaching will be later assessed by FIFA,” said Erick who is also SOE Minister.
In order to align the vision and find out the needs of PSSI Asprov, as well as football clubs in the Indonesian League 3, Erick said PSSI planned to hold a workshop like the one attended by League 1 and League 2 clubs on Saturday, March 3, in Surabaya.
“The workshop is aimed at listening to suggestions, rather than making decisions. We want to see what football people want and weave it into policies,” Erick Thohir concluded.
