More Home Buyers Planning Property Purchases in China
China’s home buyers are starting to return to the property market, according to a first quarter survey from the People’s Bank of China. The share of survey respondents who said they are planning to buy a home in the next three months rose to 17.5% in the first quarter, up from 16% in the fourth quarter. The survey also found that 18.5% of those polled expect an increase in house prices, up from 14% in the fourth quarter. CNBC
Lithuania Announces Russian Home Buyer Ban
On Tuesday, the Lithuanian government announced a ban on Russian nationals purchasing real estate in the country, citing risks to national security. The ban is set to be in place until 2024 and will not apply to Russians who have residency in the country. The Baltic country shares a border with Russia’s Kaliningrad enclave. Reuters
Moat House in Tasmania, Australia, Sells for A$3.1 Million
On the Australian island state of Tasmania, a historic moat house has sold for A$3.1 million (US$2.09 million). Built around 1820, Marion Villa, in the town of Low Head, is a “timeless, Italianate influenced home,” said the listing. Set on 4.75 acres and surrounded by water, it’s thought that many of the region’s earliest well-to-do residents enjoyed evenings at the estate, which was dubbed the “Ballroom of the North.” Domain
