The U.S., South Korea and nine other countries condemned North Korea on Wednesday for launching a ballistic missile over Japan this week, after the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) failed to issue a statement against the test that triggered evacuation warnings in Tokyo.
Nine out of 15 UNSC members endorsed the joint statement against North Korea following the emergency UNSC meeting, during which Russia and China blocked such criticism and blamed U.S. military drills for provoking Pyongyang.
