Do the Turks eat like the Arabs (with their hands) or do they use silverware?
When we were in Morocco, people dining in groups ate with their fingers and this seemed very unsanitary and coarse.
Then again, that is their culture and we respected it.
Turks dine with silverware…they are not Arabs but rather Middle Easterners (i.e. Iranian, Georgian, Afghani etc.).
The only thing they have in common is the Muslim faith.
In the Arab world, pita bread is often used to ‘scoop’ certain food offerings but there are exceptions.
In the Muslim world, one only eats with their right-hand fingers because the left hand is traditionally used for wiping one’s arse with gathered stones. They do not use toilet paper as this practice is considered unsanitary.
In more sophisticated Arab residences, the have bidets but in the desert this option is not feasible.
