The Premier Inn was opened in the town back in 2014
Exmouth's Premier Inn, dubbed an 'eyesore' due to the length of time it has been encased in scaffolding, is nearing the end of 'essential maintenance' works. The hotel, which opened in 2014, lies directly along the seafront and has remained open during the ongoing works.
Local residents have been assured the scaffolding will be removed within the next couple of weeks. It has not been confirmed how long the scaffolding has been in place, but it was there before Christmas.
Frustrated resident Christopher Bennett has shared his concerns on social media about the building and its impact on the town. In a post on Exmouth Community UK on Facebook, he said: "Obviously Premier Inn think if they leave this scaffolding up long enough it will turn into a tourist attraction. They have not done anything about this for over a year. It is now turning into a bit of an eyesore on the seafront."

One person commented: "Looks awful, needs sorting before tourist arrivals."
Another added: "It's not the same lot from last year. This lot was put up again not too long back."
A spokesperson for Whitbread said: "I am pleased to report the scaffold will be removed within the next week or so after remedial repair to a section of the building is complete. It’s essential maintenance which of course happens on buildings from time to time."
