Donald Trump‘s lawyer Joseph Tacopina called the rape and defamation case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll against the former U.S. president an affront to the justice system, during closing arguments on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Carroll’s lawyer Roberta Kaplan said a 2005 “Access Hollywood” video in which Trump says women let him “grab ’em” by their genitalia bolstered the accounts of Carroll and other women who accuse Trump of sexual assault.
Through three days of testimony, jurors heard from Carroll, two of her longtime friends, and two other women who said Trump sexually assaulted them in separate incidents years ago. Trump, who said he would not testify in the trial, denied raping Carroll in a video deposition played for the jury last Wednesday.

Cooley and its client United Cannabis Corp do not have to pay their opponent’s legal fees in a patent lawsuit over CBD extraction technology, the Federal Circuit ruled Monday. Cannabis company Pure Hemp’s arguments that Cooley hid vital information in UCANN’s patent application and ignored a conflict of interest were “extremely weak,” the court said.
