Hundreds of tyres have been dumped in several locations along the A45 and A14 in North Northamptonshire. North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) say they are now "robustly investigating" and will demand prison for the fly tippers.
A total of 800 tyres were dumped along the A45 between Raunds and Rushden and Thrapston. A number of these were also found abandoned in the A14 layby near Islip and all are believed to have been dumped in the last week.
NNC are now asking for any witnesses or information on these incidents to contact their Waste Management Team, who are responsible for monitoring the correct disposal of rubbish. They say a curtain-sided HGV seen in a layby is of particular interest to them.

The council is also appealing to all tyre fitting companies, tyre suppliers or mobile fitters who may have been contacted by anybody offering to take any quantity of tyres for an unusually cheap rate. They would also be interested in any other information which may assist the investigation.
A spokesperson from NNC said: "The Waste Management Team is robustly investigating these crimes and will seek the severest penalties from the courts, including custodial sentences on the identification and conviction of those involved.
"Please report any suspicious fly-tipping activity to the Waste Management Team at https://www.northnorthants.gov.uk/bins…/fly-tipping."
