Plans to open two new restaurants in Ashford have been submitted to the council.
Full planning permission is being sought by Indigo Planning, based in London, on behalf of Ashford developers Leisure II Limited, to build two single-storey food outlets on the Eureka Leisure Park, in Rutherford Road.
The scheme will also see an additional 53 parking spaces.
If approved, the work will be carried out in two phases, with the first restaurant and 24 parking spaces as phase one.
Phase two will see the second restaurant and 29 parking spaces created close to Cineworld.
Although it is not known which food chains might move into the new units, the report states “the applicant already has interest from restaurant operators.”
It adds: “The provision and occupation of these units will provide further full time and part time employment opportunities in the leisure park in a variety of roles and skill sets.”
The report also states that the new restaurants will “increase consumer choice and further complement the existing leisure facilities at Eureka Leisure Park”, as well as improving parking availability and add additional landscaping on the site.
Eighteen neighbours, including Cineworld, McDonald’s and the Premier Inn, all located in Eureka Leisure Park, have been consulted over the plans, although no comments have been submitted yet.
Other facilities on the Eureka Leisure Park include a 12 screen cinema, with capacity for 2,100 people, seven restaurants (Frankie and Benny’s, Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King, Chiquito, Nando’s and Subway), a children’s nursery, a hotel and a health club.
To the north of the site is Dobbies Garden Centre, a Beefeater Restaurant, a drive-thru McDonald’s, Premier Inn hotel and open green space.
The application was submitted to the council’s planning committee last week and is expected to come up for discussion in January.
