IT WAS was last March, 2022, when the prominent fashion designer and beauty queen maker, Renee Magtibay Salud, was making plans of holding a fashion show at the Waterfront Insular Hotel. We were then sitting as judges in the Bai Umajam Beauty Pageant held in faraway Agusan del Sur as guests of his beloved choreographer, director and event planner in Mindanao, Arnold Larrobis Alvarez.
Finally, that wish was realized last June 25 when the Renee Salud Collection 2022 was presented in “Weddings at the Waterfront” at the hotel’s Garden Pavilion along with the Debut and Party Collection by Love & Styles of Cristina Yip in partnership with former beauty queen socialite, philanthropist, madam Jessie Vitor Morales.
The “Night of Fashion-with-a-Cause (for the benefit of the House of Hope Foundation for children with cancer)” was, indeed, a grand opening salvo of the Waterfront Insular Hotel for better things to come. It was a grand celebration made more special with the attendance of former resident hotel manager, Bryan Yves Sato Lasala, who flew in from Cebu.
“As the City rebounds from the unfortunate Covid pandemic, this year 2022 is the time for reviving the local events industry. The Waterfront Insular Hotel relaunches its homegrown “Momentous Wedding and Events Fair, the Beautiful Beginnings” this June 24-25, bringing together both veteran and fresh faces from the City’s events suppliers. This is the biggest event of the hotel for the year as we invite the best events suppliers to help restart and revive the events industry,” hotel manager Bryan Yves Sato Lasala told the excited and exuberant guests who came admirably well dressed for the fashion event.
Last June 25 was the main highlight which was the “Insulares, a Night of Fashion for a Cause.” It featured the collections of Renee Magtibay Salud and “Love & Styles” of Cristina Yip. Do you know that the name June is derived from the Roman goddess of marriage, Juno? Some people believe that when a couple gets married in June, they would be blessed with lasting happiness and love.
Whether you have planned your wedding to be held in church, outdoors, or in destination spots like the beach, fashion designer Renee M. Salud will have the perfect couture wedding apparel for the blushing bride and the nervous groom plus the couple’s excited entourage.
The Renee M. Salud bridal collection, as worn by Manila’s gorgeous beauty pageant title holders for models who confidently expressed themselves as the perfect June bride, did not fail to amaze the appreciative audience. Renee M. Salud’s bridal gown collection simply shone with that ethereal and elegant vibe like no other.
There were bridal gowns for all body types one could choose from: ball gown wedding dress, mermaid wedding dress, trumpet wedding dress, sheath wedding dress, A-line wedding dress, tea length wedding dress, fit-and-flare wedding dress, column wedding dress, and of course, the classic terno wedding dress. All these were executed from various luxurious fabrics that meet the talented designer’s intended silhouette and aesthetics.
Taking center stage that night as well were Renee M. Salud’s loyal matronly clients who courageously did their catwalk on the fashion ramp shining ever so brightly. The bejeweled matronly “models” were happily seen in a diversified collection of Salud garments marked by good tailoring and cautious usages of trimmings. Indeed, it was a night of impressive Salud collection only at the Waterfront Insular Hotel-Davao. Bravo!!!
Congratulations to all the fashion participants and sponsors. Thank you, Waterfront Insular Hotel.
